Your permit will cost $9, and you’ll take your knowledge test at your local BMV, where you’ll also be required to take a vision test and provide identification and paperwork. To get your permit or license, you’ll need to provide proof of identity, state residency, and social security number. If you’re a minor, you will also need to provide a signed financial responsibility agreement from a parent, and 15-year-olds must show proof of enrollment in a driver’s education course to get their permit.
